Amber Maternity at Home Summer 2020

Amber and I had worked together a few times before she called me and told me she was expecting! I was so excited for her. And I was excited to plan her maternity photos with her!

I met her at her house for a sunrise session. It was a super early wake up for me as we lived about an hour and a half apart, but it was totally worth it! The light is always stunning for sunrise sessions. And the fog turned out beautiful for us. Bonus was that Amber’s backyard was just gorgeous. And so was she! Glowing with that new baby expectation. ♥️

I always encourage client consultations with portraits sessions. It’s a great way to touch base about what you are looking for in your photos. Amber wanted soft and romantic, with long flowing gowns. I was also able to raid my client wardrobe for items that would work for her session. For the first look, Amber found the gray maternity gown online and I brought the crown. She reminded me of a Greek statue.

After rounding up her husband for a few sweet moments together, we continued with a few dresses I brought for the session. I love the way that flower crown looks with Amber’s hair. Paired with the lace dress, it felt so romantic.

I really love the stripped dress with the jean jacket and black hat. It was nice to go from romantic to a more casual look.

During our session phone consultation, I asked Amber about what kinds of things she had been craving during her pregnancy. She said pancakes and sprinkles and her husband, Jeff always made them for her. I loved that story and it gave me the idea to capture her cravings and also do a fun add on to the shoot. So, Jeff made pancakes and we all got to enjoy them with coffee. A great reward after a morning of photos!
