My first newborn session of 2020! This family was so wonderful to spend time with for a few hours on a Sunday.
I love welcoming new additions. This family was the sweetest! I always feel like I'm moving in when I come over for a newborn lifestyle session. With bins, a basket, lights, and my camera bag, it can seem like a lot! But they were very gracious, and immediately offered me coffee-which was a blessing!
Not only was Tess absolutely adorable and super sleepy, her older sister stole my heart immediately with hugs and big grins! There's always a lot of flexibility needed to also have a two-year old in photos, no matter what type of session, I'm so glad we got some great smiles during the family portraits.
I love doing in-home lifestyle sessions for a few reasons: with newborn sessions, it's just easier for the family to be home where they don't have to worry about loading up, changing and disrupting schedules, getting ready and coming to the studio or to an on location shoot. I also love taking photos in your own home with your own personality showing. Your home is unique to you and it's a great way to cherish this special place and who you are as a family!
I always make sure to take time to get those precious baby photos. Using natural light and typically things I bring with me (wraps, blankets, headbands, backgrounds), we can get what looks like studio portraits in your own home. I love using natural, window light whenever possible for these photos.
I spent the day before this session knitting the tan blanket to go into the basket. I had ordered one online but the delivery got delayed! So, I made one myself! I love the homey feel of knits. And Tessa is adorable all wrapped up in the basket.
Mama got matching outfits for photos in the nursery and I absolutely love them! Nursery photos are just so wonderful to capture; the first room of the new baby. Taking time to have sweet, tender moments together in a place that is going to mean so much to parents.
Saving and cherishing those first few weeks of bringing a new baby home is so important. The time really does fly by!
