This wasn't an official wedding for me; I was just a guest at Jessica and Ryan's wedding. I try to leave my camera at home for most personal events so I can truly enjoy what's going on instead of being distracted by taking pictures. However, some events call for me to want great photos for my own personal memories! This was one of those events.
Jessica is one of my closest friends and I was so excited when she and Ryan got engaged! Jessica is one of the sweetest people I know and she deserved someone special.
Their beautiful wedding at Kirk Park in Mt. Olive, Michigan was perfect. We had visited that park many times in college, and it was great to celebrate such an important life moment there! Also, since they got married in October in Michigan, they had the entire beach to themselves.
They were originally going to have a big church wedding, but after talking about what they both really wanted, Jessica and Ryan decided to have an intimate ceremony on the beach. To witness them celebrate the beginning of their lives together in a way that meant so much to them was something truly amazing.
They ended up keeping their original planned wedding date for their reception. As for their ceremony day, there was a potluck in one of the beach pavilions where we got to spend some time celebrating Jessica & Ryan.
I just love the joy I see in Jessica's face. Those moments of joy from the wedding couple, their friends and family are one of the things I love most about photographing weddings.
