This ended up being a very non-traditional studio session with Naz. This was our third time working together after two sessions on location, so we wanted to do something in the studio. Plus, being the middle of summer we weren't forced to hurry due to the heat!
I say non-traditional studio session because the first set, on the white wall, was shot with completely natural window light and the second planned set was in the bathtub! Only one studio light was used for the bathtub set.
I spent the afternoon before our session hanging these beautiful yellow and white flowers from wire and string rigged between background stands. I found the white lace dress while thrifing. I knew I wanted something light and summery and the whites, yellows, and creams look beautiful against Naz's skin.
Naz brought this perfect jean jacket with her so I just had to throw it in! I love when models and clients bring their own wardrobe items to go with the style we are trying to achieve. I'm all about over-sized clothing items right now.
Our second planned look was a bathtub + sequin concept. On our way up the stairs, the light coming through the blinds made me pause. I couldn't be happier with the results! These are probably some of my favorite from the session. It's good to be constantly looking at your surroundings (even around your own home) and be open to ideas outside of your plan or schedule. I love the drama of shadow and light. These remind me of Twiggy, with the shaded eyes and long lashes.
The main focus of this second look is the make up and bathtub. Our make up artist was given free reign for this look and I love what she came up with! It's so wonderful working with other creatives and seeing what inspires them.
I've had that blue sequin dress in my closet for a long time and was so glad to finally use it! My obsession for sequin grows the more I use it. The way it reflects the light is always interesting. I also had a lot of fun after our session fishing the gold and silver sequin out of the tub so it didn't end up down the drain!
This was my first bathtub session and I can't wait to do more!
This was probably one of my favorite styled sessions of 2019. (I'll probably say that a lot, but it was!) I love when wardrobe items or a trip to the craft store inspires a concept. Naz was up for anything I created and she is so wonderful to work with! Every time I look at these images I just love them. We had so much fun!
