Sometimes I just get so excited to try out an idea or I want to play with some different studio lighting techniques. Sometimes I don’t have a model lined up or don’t want to wait to do some test shots. That’s when I break down and do self portraits.
We were still living in our apartment and I didn’t have a studio space so I had to get creative. I hung a black blanket on a couple chairs, set up one flash, and sat on the floor with my computer tethered to my camera right in front of me. Simple, and fun to do. I used a decorative candle holder to create the patterned shadows. It took a little while to figure out exactly how I wanted the light and candle holder set, but once it was I was good to go!
I had a lot of fun with these and I always love trying something new!
