This session came together in a very round-about way. I got some doll sized wicker chairs from a friend and knew I wanted to do something creative with them; but when I have a model lined up for a session, I like to do more than one thing.
I wanted to do something with reflective items on a slow shutter speed but wasn't sure how I wanted to do it: break up mirror or window glass? But then how would I hang them without cutting myself? Then I remembered I had a bunch of file disks that I was breaking up anyway as I was updating my file storage system. Perfect! So I got some clear glue, fishing line, and spent about a week breaking up discs and two days glueing them in the studio!
The resultes were just what I wanted, and these images ended up being more of the focus of our session than the original plan with the wicker chairs and flowers.
So, here's to rock and roll. Taylor walked in looking fabulous, so we did some photos in her street clothes before swapping to what I have. My favorite images from this session are definitely the ones where she's holding up some cool fabric I have and shaking it. I love how the fabric looked with the lights and low shutter speed.
Taylor is wonderful to work with and she's always on board for any crazy idea I come up with to shoot. I do most of my sessions on location, but sometimes its super fun to just set up in the studio, play with lights and camera settings, and just see what happens.
Though photography is my full time job, I always try and be creative and have fun. These styled sessions give me a chance to do just that. I love making art with wonderful people.
