Sometimes, I just need a little pink in my life. Or in this case, a lot of pink! I really wanted to do something monochromatic for this session with Amber. I don't know why I landed on magenta as the final color, but I love the results! I teased this wig into oblivion! I even cut the bangs myself for the look. I found a magenta sweater while thrifting, bought some cotton fabric plus a fun shiny cosplay fabric at Joanne's, and brought out my pink gels for the lights. Kaila finished off the look with the magenta make up. I loved taking these photos of Amber. It was so fun just embracing one color and running with it.
We actually started the session with this second set of pictures. Amber came natural, and Kaila did a simple make up look for her. I wanted to start with this look, that way I could set up all the "grass" before everyone arrived. I also spent about two weeks making that skirt! I wanted something that felt like Little House on the Prairie. Amber liked it so much, I let her buy it off of me after the session!
I really love the natural feel of this second set up, even with being in the studio. That caramel color background is really flattering on a lot of skin tones. It's a couple yards of suede I found at a fabric store. I love going to fabric stores for unique backgrounds!
This was such a great studio day for us. I really love the opportunity to put together a concept and work out all the details. And I always love getting the chance to work with Amber!
